HEAT PLAN for Saturday 24 January 2026

Melbourne is expecting a very hot day on Saturday 24 January 2026. The following is the safety plan for access to Herring Island:

  • The Parks Victoria punt service from Como Landing will operate from 11am to 1pm - the last service to leave Herring Island will be at 1pm
  • The Herring Island Gallery including the History Room will be open from 11am to 12:30pm with the air conditioning running and the doors closed to maintain a reasonable temperature inside.
Please follow the instructions and advice of the punt operator and Parks Victoria staff and stay safe in the heat - hats, sunscreen, hydration and keep cool.

We expect our normal program to resume on Sunday 25th and Monday 26th January including the guided tour of the Island and its sculptures on Monday 26th January.
