The Valley Potters look forward to meeting you at the exhibition.
‘Fired Earth' we feel is very fitting for Valley Potters Inc exhibition at
Herring Island, the range of beautiful ceramic artworks, many which are pit
fired, are created by our wonderful clay community to be shared with the
public.
Each of the thirteen exhibiting artists derives inspiration for their work from different places, such as their surroundings, their loves, their passions and their imagination. As each pair of hands has different experiences and works with the malleable clay in their own way, each piece is unique and holds a piece of the artists DNA and soul within it.
This exhibition is made up of works from Valley Potters artists and includes sculptural, functional and decorative pieces. The artists use a variety of making and firing techniques to create their work including hand building, wheel throwing, primitive firing, gas and electric firing.
Valley Potters Inc. began in 1978 and have drawn members from across Victoria of varying backgrounds, ages and experience. They pride themselves to be inclusive of new and old members alike. They exhibit and hold workshops throughout the year, open to all members.
It is a true pleasure for our group to be a part of the Herring Island Summer Festival once again, and to showcase the collection of so many talented local ceramic artists.
