Where is it?

Access to Herring Island Environmental Sculpture Park & Gallery is by Parks Victoria’s punt service which operates on weekends and on Australia Day from 11am to 5:00pm from the Como Landing (Melway Map 2M C2). This is currently a FREE service.

Como landing is at the foot of Williams Road South Yarra / Toorak where it runs into Alexandra Avenue.

You can get to Herring Island by public transport - the 605 bus stops near the Alexandra Avenue - Williams Road corner. For those wishing to make an event of an island visit you can book a water taxi - perhaps from SouthGate - and cruise to the landing on the Burnley side of the island. See http://www.melbournewatertaxis.com.au/ and note that you will need to book ahead.

Cycling to Como Landing is a pleasant trip along the Main Yarra Trail - you can hire the "blue bikes" from http://www.melbournebikeshare.com.au/ at Federation Square and enjoy a great ride and no parking worries. Chain up at Como Landing as there is no cycling on the island.

Kanteen café is located close to the landing.

On days of extreme fire danger Parks Victoria may decide to close the island for public safety. We will put notices on this website but you can also check here if you need to check the latest news.
