About HISAF

Herring Island Summer Arts Festival acknowledges the Wurrunjeri people as the original custodian of the land on which the festival is being held. We pay our respect to their elders - past, present and emerging.

Herring Island Environmental Sculpture Park is managed by Parks Victoria. It is a small man made island in the Yarra just north of the junction of Williams Road and Alexandra Avenue Toorak. Much of the re-vegetation and conservation work is assisted or undertaken by the Friends of Herring Island.

The Herring Island Gallery is the converted scout hall. The fireplace and the marks on the floor are the give-away signs – the architecture is now inspired by the place – a gift to the arts by the Myer Foundation and the genius of architect, Greg Burgess.

The Festival is coordinated by a small committee of volunteers. Donations made at the exhibitions are used to support the Festival and improve facilities for exhibiting work. The 2019 Herring Island Summer Arts Festival is fortunate to receive support from Stonnington Council. Como Landing is within the Stonnington Council area and has recently been landscaped to reflect the original vegetation of the area.

You can download an invitation to the 2019 Festival here. You may like to keep it handy to remind you of the change dates between the various exhibitions in the Festival.
